Bank South Pacific Supports Samoan Culture and Language Week 2026

Bank South Pacific (BSP Samoa) has once again stepped up to support the upcoming Samoan Culture and Language Week celebrations. The Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) has acknowledged the generous support of BSP Samoa towards this important national programme. The partnership, now in its third year, reflects BSP’s commitment to promoting and preserving the Samoan language, culture, and identity, particularly among younger generations. “Our language and culture are the foundation of our identity, and we are proud to support their preservation for future generations,” said Tunumafono Jennifer Ula-Fruean, Country Head of Bank South Pacific, Samoa. BSP is supporting Samoan Language Week 2026 with a total sponsorship of $10,000 tala including $7,000 in cash and $3,000 in merchandise for activities and competitions. The support has increased from last year where BSP supported Samoan Language Week 2025 with $5000 cash plus $2000 tala worth of merchandise. The Ministry of Education and Cultures ACEO of the Samoa Language Commission, Sāla Delphina Lee, expressed sincere appreciation for BSP’s continued support. Sala said the sponsorship is important for ensuring the success of the program. “Through this partnership, BSP continues to support national efforts to strengthen cultural identity and encourage the use of the Samoan language across Samoa.” The BSP sponsorship will support a week of celebrations that ends with the much-anticipated School Culture Festival. Samoa Language Week is a cherished national initiative that shines a light on the importance of the Samoan language and cultural traditions. Throughout the week, schools and communities across Samoa will participate in activities such as storytelling, language workshops, and cultural performances, promoting pride in Samoan heritage.
