Four Youth Charged in Assault Incident of 14 Year Old Student

The Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services have issued a statement confirming four youths involved in the incident circulating widely on social media, have been identified and charged with assault. SPPCS had launched an investigation into the violent assault caught on camera involving a group of youths from Vaimoso and a student from Pesega College. The incident happened on Friday 7 March as the student wearing his uniform, was walking home. The student has been identified by his family on social media as Tini Junior (TJ) Ah See. His mother, Tuaine Ah See, has commented on public forum to say this is her son’s first year living here in Samoa. She said her son was sent to Samoa to experience life and learn about the culture. The video shows a group of youth attacking the student along the side of the road. Bystanders intervened. Loud beeping is heard from horns of cars in heavy traffic nearby, and people’s voices calling out to the group of youth to stop. Video taken by bystander. The boy is seen lying on the ground on the road, with many people coming to his aid. The group of youth are seeing fleeing the scene of the incident. The youths faces where clearly seen on the videos taken by bystanders. The victim could also be identified on the videos taken.
