From Friendship to Future: Pakistan Gifts First Computer Lab to Fagalii Primary School

2026-02-14 - 12:09

Fagalii Primary School has officially opened its very first computer lab, marking a major milestone for the school and its community. The new facility, named the Pakistan–Samoa Friendship Centre Computer Lab, was funded by the Government of Pakistan through a generous donation of USD $20,000 (approximately $51,000 tala). School representative Seimaleula Val Samania Matatia described the opening as a dream come true, expressing heartfelt gratitude to God and to the people of Pakistan for their generous support. According to Seimaleula, the partnership began in 2024 during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), when the village community played a role in welcoming and promoting Pakistan. That relationship later paved the way for this significant contribution. The new lab includes 10 brand-new computers, fully installed and set up by the Government of Pakistan. “This is the first time the school has received such a large donation,” she said. Currently, the school has 157 students enrolled, with class sizes ranging from 20 to 24 students. The school is supported by seven teachers. Seimaleula emphasised that the school does not take the support lightly. “We don’t take lightly le fesoasoani a le Malo o Pakistan.” She added that the school is committed to maintaining the computer lab to ensure the partnership with Pakistan continues to grow. There are also hopes that this collaboration will open doors for further development, including plans to establish a school library and improve reading resources. The new computer lab will equip students with essential digital skills and help them keep pace with today’s rapidly evolving technology.
