The Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services formally welcomed its new intake of recruits through a traditional ‘ava ceremony held at the Police Academy in Tafaigata. The new intake consists of 51 members of 10 females and 41 males. The ceremony reflected values of faaaloalo, amio pulea and tautua. The new intake of Police officers were reminded that policing in Samoa is not only a profession, but a duty grounded in service to the community and the nation. Senior officers highlighted the close connection between Samoan culture and modern policing, reinforcing the expectation that officers serve with humility and honor. Police executives also emphasied the importance of integrity, commitment, and teamwork, urging the recruits to uphold the law with fairness and compassion while respecting Samoan traditions and cultural values.
