The Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services have issued a press release concerning a video circulating on social media showing a group of boys involved in a violent altercation with a young person wearing a Pesega College uniform. A video on social media shows a group of boys jumping a student of the Church College of Samoa, while he was walking along the road with his school bag. They gang of 7 or 8 cowardly beat the student until he fell onto the road, into oncoming traffic. Video taken by bystander. Cars stopped and many came to the student’s rescue while the group dispersed and ran away. Some faces are identifiable on the video taken by a bystander. The young student is heard saying, I don’t know what I’ve done. He was bleeding and his eyes were swollen. Police say violence and bullying of any kind will not be tolerated, and action will be taken once the facts of the matter are established. “Police take this matter seriously and have commenced an investigation into the incident...” “We remind our young people that this type of behaviour is unacceptable and can lead to serious consequences.” “We encourage everyone to treat one another with respect and resolve disagreements peacefully.” Police are calling for anyone with information to come forward. “If you have any information that may assist Police with this investigation, please contact: media@police.gov.ws”
