Communities from Vaa o Fonoti, Anoamaa 1, and Anoamaa 2 convened at the Maota o Faamatuainu Aitupe & Faamatuainu Togiai in Lufilufi as the Sailigamalo a Tina ma Tamaitai o Samoa continued its nationwide outreach. Led by the Ministry of Women Community & Social Development (MWCSD), the initiative provides a platform for women, men, and youth to engage in meaningful talanoa on issues that influence the well-being of families and communities. A key component of the program is the delivery of a‘oa‘oga (awareness sessions) on priority areas, including Disability Schemes, Early Childhood Development (ECD), and Gender-Based Violence (GBV). These sessions aim to strengthen community understanding, promote inclusion, and encourage collective responsibility in addressing social challenges and supporting vulnerable groups. Discussions throughout the program also emphasised leadership, shared family responsibilities, and the importance of working together to build safe, resilient, and inclusive communities. Participants expressed strong appreciation for the initiative, acknowledging its role in strengthening unity and encouraging active community participation. Reflecting on the legacy of Taulapapa Leaupepe Faimaala, one participant shared: “A leotele le leo, e tele foi galuega.” She noted that this message serves as a reminder to women that their voices must be matched by meaningful action, and that women’s voices should continue to be recognised and valued within villages, families, and churches. The Ministry of Health Samoa further supported the program by providing basic health screenings, including blood pressure and blood sugar checks, ensuring that participants benefited from both awareness and access to health services. The Sailigamalo a Tina ma Tamaitai o Samoa continues to serve as an important platform for engagement, learning, and empowerment, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development for all Samoans.
