Prime Minister told Christopher Luxon not to worry too much about what people are saying on social media. “Don’t worry about the nonsense on Facebook. “Let your village of Apia sort it out and handle it with respect.” His comment, In Samoa, matters involving respect, culture and chiefly titles are usually handled within the community and village, rather than through arguments online. The Prime Minister then reminded everyone about the strong relationship between Samoa and New Zealand. He said the connection between the two countries has grown over many years and is now much deeper than just politics. Many Samoan families have relatives living, studying and working in New Zealand, which has helped create close family ties between the two nations. “New Zealand and Samoa are no longer just friends we are family,” he said. “Politics may change, but family lasts forever.” He also spoke about the shared history between the two countries, including the sacrifices made by soldiers that are remembered every year during ANZAC Day. Prime Minister Laaulialemalietoa said the special Samoan title given to Prime Minister Luxon shows the strong cultural bond between the two countries. To end his speech, he shared a warm message about the future of the relationship between Samoa and New Zealand. “We share good times, we share difficult times, and we share many memories together,” he said.
