Serving the Lord with a Willing Heart

Ephesians 6:7 “Rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man.” Paul now speaks directly to the spirit in which we serve. God is not only concerned with our actions, but with our attitude. He calls believers to render service with good will—with willingness, sincerity, and joy. This challenges the tendency to serve out of obligation or resentment. It’s easy to work hard when conditions are ideal, but Scripture calls us to serve the Lord even when leadership is imperfect, the environment is difficult, or recognition is absent. When we serve “as to the Lord,” our motivation changes. We are no longer working merely to satisfy people—we are offering our labour to Christ Himself. This truth transforms everyday work. Whether in an office, classroom, trade, home, or ministry setting, our service becomes devotion when it’s offered to God. The workplace becomes a place to honour the Lord, and our daily responsibilities become acts of “good will” to Him. Serving the Lord doesn’t remove hardship, but it fills our work with meaning. When Christ is the audience of our labour, even ordinary tasks carry eternal purpose. Prayer: Father, shape our hearts to serve with willingness and joy. Deliver us from bitterness and half-hearted effort. Teach us to work as unto You in every responsibility we carry. Let our service reflect love for Christ. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Have a wonderful day. God bless and lots’a love, Warren
