Stand Firm in the Truth of the Gospel

NO COMPROMISE WITH TRUTH Galatians 2:11–12 “When Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. For before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group.” Peter, a respected leader and apostle, had been living in line with the gospel—freely fellowshipping with Gentile believers. But when pressure came from certain men, fear took over. He began to withdraw, creating separation where the gospel had brought unity. This wasn’t about eating habits. It was about the truth of the gospel. Peter’s actions were sending a message: that Gentile believers were somehow less acceptable unless they conformed to Jewish customs. So Paul confronted him—openly and directly. Why? Because the gospel was at stake. This passage reminds us that even mature believers can stumble when fear of people replaces confidence in truth. The pressure to fit in, to avoid criticism, or to maintain approval can quietly lead us into compromise. But the gospel can’t be adjusted to accommodate fear. Paul’s courage shows us that truth must be protected, even when it’s uncomfortable, even when it involves confronting respected leaders. Faithfulness to Christ must always come before fear of man. What about you and me? Are there areas where fear of others is shaping our actions more than the truth of the gospel? Grace unites. Fear divides. Truth must stand. Prayer: Father, give us courage to stand firmly in the truth of the gospel. Guard us from the fear of people and help us walk in integrity and consistency. When we are tempted to compromise, strengthen us to remain faithful to Christ. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Have a great week. God bless and lots’a love, Warren
