Standing for the Truth of the Gospel

Galatians 2:14 “When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in front of them all...” Paul identifies the issue—and responds decisively. Peter’s actions weren’t private. His withdrawal from Gentile believers was visible, influential, and misleading. Others followed his example, and the truth of the gospel was being compromised publicly. SO PAUL CORRECTED HIM—PUBLICLY. This wasn’t about embarrassment. It was about clarity. When error is public, correction must also be public—SO THAT CONFUSION IS REMOVED AND TRUTH IS RESTORED. Left unaddressed, public error spreads quickly. It shapes thinking, influences behaviour, and leads others away from the simplicity of the gospel. Paul’s concern wasn’t personal disagreement. It was this: they were “not acting in line with the truth of the gospel.” The gospel declares that all who are in Christ are fully accepted by grace alone. But Peter’s actions suggested otherwise. And because that message was being communicated openly, it had to be corrected openly. This requires wisdom, humility, and courage. Not every issue needs a public response. But when false teaching, distorted doctrine, or misleading actions are presented publicly—and are leading others into error—they must be addressed clearly, faithfully, and in the light. TRUTH MUST NOT BE LEFT TO COMPETE SILENTLY WITH ERROR. We are called not only to believe the gospel, but to protect its clarity—especially when others are being led astray. Grace must be guarded. Truth must be spoken. Prayer: Father, give us wisdom to discern when to speak and courage to stand for the truth of the gospel. Guard us from both silence in the face of error and harshness in correction. Help us act with clarity, humility, and faithfulness so that Your truth is preserved. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Have a great day. God bless and lots’a love, Warren
