The Gospel Is Not Adjustable

Galatians 1:8 “But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!” Paul now says something astonishing. He raises the stakes higher than before. Even if we—the apostles themselves—preach a different gospel, DO NOT BELIEVE IT. Even if an angel appears with a new message, REJECT IT. The authority of the messenger doesn’t validate the message. The message is measured by the gospel already revealed. And Paul doesn’t soften his language. Twice, he says that anyone who preaches another gospel stands under God’s judgment (vs.9). Why such seriousness? BECAUSE THE GOSPEL IS NOT ADJUSTABLE. It isn’t culturally editable. It isn’t spiritually expandable. It isn’t open to improvement. To alter the gospel isn’t to slightly misguide—it’s to endanger souls. False gospels often sound impressive. They may claim deeper revelation, superior spirituality, or fresh insight. But if the message shifts trust away from Christ’s finished work—even subtly—it’s not good news. Paul repeats himself intentionally. Truth worth defending is truth worth repeating. The lesson for us is firm and steady: We don’t measure truth by personality, platform, or persuasion. WE MEASURE EVERYTHING BY THE GOSPEL ALREADY REVEALED IN SCRIPTURE. If the message magnifies Christ’s sufficiency, humbles human effort, and anchors salvation in grace alone—it is true. If it adds, subtracts, or reshapes that foundation—it must be rejected. The gospel doesn’t evolve. It rescues. Prayer: Father, give us courage to hold firmly to the true gospel. Guard us from being swayed by impressive voices or persuasive personalities. Anchor us deeply in the truth of Christ’s finished work. May we never move from the gospel we have received in Your written Word. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Have a great day. God bless and lots’a love, Warren
